J P Sauer (check your spelling) has been making good quality guns in Germany for years. After WW 2 the firm was in what became East Germany. The name was sold to a group in West Germany. They produced your revolver in the 1960s. About 1967 they merged with SIG. Unfortunately there are no specific production records by serial number.
