i have a 2001 Chevy 2500 duramax that had the np 263 transfer case
It depends on the 4-wheel drive system of both vehicles. Both quadra-drive and quadra-trac II use the same transfer case, called the NV247. If both vehicles have one of those 4X4 systems then yes, they are the same exact case and can be used to replace each other.
The transfer case takes atf, use dextron.
NP245 or NP247 use a special transfer case lube NP231 or NP242 use Automatic Transmission Fluid
what type of fluid does a john deere transmission transfer case use
NP245 or NP247 use a special transfer case lube NP231 or NP242 use Automatic transmission fluid
In some of them you just may need some heat and grease to get them to engage in the front. Some of the older vehicles do get stuck with a lack of use.
A differential in an automobile is used to transfer the power to rear drive axles from the transmission in rear wheel drive vehicles. In 4-wheel drive, the two differentials transfer power from the transfer case to the wheels. Most front wheel drive vehicles use a transaxle which combines a transmission and differential in the same case. Again, one of the roles is to transfer power to the wheels. However, it does more than that. It allows one wheel in the set to turn faster than the other. That is so the vehicle can negotiate curves without skidding.
Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid in your 4x4 transfer case
Not if your transfer case is a "Quadratrac". Use only Quadratrac fluid, otherwise the clutch packs will bind.
The part time transfer case is a model NP242.
It uses Trak II transfer case fluid, GM part number 12378508. The fluid goes in a hole, use a ratchet with an extension to remove it, on the side of the transfer case.
your best bet is to call DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles(
