If your 2004 S10 ZR5 is not engaging in 4 Hi, it could be due to several reasons, such as a malfunctioning transfer case switch, a faulty actuator, or issues with the transfer case itself. Additionally, low fluid levels or contamination in the transfer case can prevent proper engagement. Check for any blown fuses or wiring issues as well. If the problem persists, it may be best to consult a mechanic for a thorough diagnosis.
If It's 4x4, it may be in Neutral in the Transfer Case, or may need to have trannny checked out.

This issue could be caused by a faulty transfer case motor, a problem with the transfer case shift module, or a wiring issue. It is recommended to have the transfer case motor and shift module inspected and tested by a qualified mechanic to determine the exact cause of the problem.
transfer case linkage may be out of adjustment. instead of being in 4 wheel drive it may be in neutral in the transfercase.
