White and black mixes with every color.
I find that a light blue goes good with chocolate brown. Also, maroon, light green, or a light brown, or beige color. (=
probbaly green with brown decorations so it evens out the colour palette or a nice cream with a feature wall paper
If the valance is on the accent wall, your best bet is to pick up another colour from the room's palette. However, there are some who would tell you that the valance and drapes should be the same chocolate brown as the walls to keep the impact of the look. If your valance is on any other wall in the room, I would suggest a patterned fabric that has the chocolate brown in it. This helps to tie in the colour and give a more cohesive look to the project.

Accessory wise: Different shades of green and lime e.g. Lime curtains on a brown wall.. or a different shade of lime on the lime wall, and vice versa! :).
