The French and Indian War also called The Seven Years' War, 1754-1763, was focused in what later became The Ohio Territory. In Ohio is where young George Washington was sent to fight the French. But he and his band were overrun. Young Washington had to surrender! He returned home and vowed to never fight again (but he did). The French and Indian War / The Seven Years' War, 1754-1763 eventually meant complete victory for the British. They took over the French colonial territory west of the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River. New France that stretched from Louisiana through the Mississippi Valley and Great Lakes to Canada was also overtaken.
