She enjoyed riding her bike, going to school, jumping rope, playing with her friends, reading and helping in her dad's office. She also enjoyed writing in her journal. She began writing in her journal on her 13th Birthday, which is when she received it, she then continued to write it while she was hiding in "the Annex" and towards the end she intended for it to be published. She enjoyed writing it and wanted to be a journalist when she grew up.

In the annex, Anne Frank and the others ate mainly simple food such as bread, potatoes, vegetables, and occasionally meat or fish when they could find it. Their rations were limited, so they had to make do with what they had available and ration coupons were used for food supplies.
