Cleopatra became Caesar's lover. When Caesar arrived in Egypt he decided to help Cleopatra in the civil war which was taking place in Egypt and defeated her two siblings and power rivals: Ptolemy XIII and Arsinoe. Casar took Cleopatra to Rome to visit the city and put her up in one of his country houses. He commissioned a golden statue of her represented as the Egyptian goddess Isis and had it placed in the temple Venus Genetrix, which he had built to create a personal religious cult by claiming that his family descended from this deity. Cleopatra was in Rome when Caesar was assassinated. She also claimed that Caesar was the father of her son, whom she named Ceasarion.
mark Antony, or Julius ceaser(like the salad)
it was awsome. i should know
Octavian was Julius caesars great nephew. As such he has some contact with the boy as he grew and octavian was enamoured of his uncle. Upon his death, Julius Caesars will named Octavian as his now adopted son and heir. Octavia took this to mean the heir to the throne and set about consolidating his position both in the senate and on the battle ground. Marc Anthony was Julius right hand man, war comrade, confidant and friend. Marc Anthony was a self assured man who liked To fight but was not a good diplomat or politician. Julius Caesar left Marc Anthony in Rome as " leader" in the senate but due to the building hatred between Pompey and Caesar, the resultant civil war saw Pompey killed and Julius declared dictator for 10 years. After Julius Caesars assassination , Anthony was declared executor of his will and problems arose between him and Octavian. The resultant war between those two was a draw with a 3 way rule being established between Octavian, Marc Anthony and Lepidus. To bridge the difficulties Marc Anthony married Octavia sister Octavian, but when he went east he fell under the spell of cleopatra( just as Julius Caesar had done) and abandoned his wife. It all finally came to head at the battle of actium where marc Anthony and cleopatra were defeated by Octavian. Marc Anthony committed suicide first. Once cleopatra knew what Octavian was to do with her ( take her back to Rome as. A prisoner) she also committed suicide.
Cleopatra got her power back with the help of Julius Caesar. Caesar established her as ruler and when he left Egypt, he also left Roman troops there to safeguard against revolution (the Alexandrians did not like Cleopatra) and to make sure that Cleopatra complied with her allied status with Rome.Cleopatra got her power back with the help of Julius Caesar. Cleopatra and Marc Antony were two self-centered individuals. Each one used the other for their personal gain and their personal advancement. Cleopatra needed Antony's power and Antony needed Cleopatra's money. That was the core of their alliance and relationship.
No, not at all!! the romans hated Cleopatra and often depicted her as an evil siren that lures powerful men to their fall. (aka Julius Caeser and Mark Antony)
I hope you mean Julius Caesar. Their relationship is, like all things having to do with Cleopatra, largely hyped. Yes, Caesar did go to Egypt chasing after Pompey, yes, Caesar did recall Cleopatra from exile, and yes there was a war and a physical relationship.(Caesar was a known womanizer) Modern scholars are questioning this relationship. What is in doubt is the paternity of Cleo's kid, who she called Caesarion, meaning something like "Little Caesar" . However he was called by that name only in Egypt. There is evidence that the two made an agreement in which Caesar would put Cleopatra on the throne and back her up with Roman troops, while Cleopatra would pay off the massive debt her father had run up, which was owed to Caesar. (The circumstances of this debt were due to the partnership of Caesar and Pompey who bought up the debt from the Roman money lenders). In order to insure that Cleopatra remained on the throne, Caesar and Cleo and Roman troops took a sail up the Nile as a show of force. When Caesar left Egypt, he also left troops to both protect Cleopatra (the Alexandrians were not happy with her as their queen) and to keep an eye on Cleopatra making sure that she upheld her end of their bargain. It seems as Caesar never fully trusted Cleopatra.
He thought he was like a god and I'm pretty sure he named a month after himself because he thought he was the best living being ever i think the month was July
Hardly. Cleopatra seduced Antony for the selfish purpose of keeping her throne and continuing her dynasty. This is not to say that she didn't like him or have good times with him, but throughout their entire relationship there was an undercurrent of greed and manipulation on Cleopatra's part.
Sex, betrayal, and dishonesty
there relationship had love and passion, and their relationship ended when Mark Antony committed suicide thinking that Cleopatra was dead. When Cleopatra found out, she went to her tomb and used asps to commite suicide. That's the romantic version of their story. The reality was very different: Cleopatra and Marc Antony had a political alliance. Both used the other to further their own ends and ambitions. Cleopatra used sex, money and luxury to seduce Antony into granting favors to Egypt. Antony used his power as a Roman triumvirate to amass an army for military ventures and ultimate victory over Octavian. Antony needed Cleopatra's wealth to finance his undertakings and Cleopatra needed Antony's political authority to further Egypt's (and her own) interests. The "love" story is a hyper overrating of their relationship. If you study it closely, you will see that Cleopatra only had her children with Antony after he had granted her some favor. Even her death was a self-serving event.
She was 18 years old when she became queen she became queen because in her father's will he said that Cleopatra and the older of the younger brother would become rulers the reason that Cleopatra had to have her brother rule with her is because women could not rule by themselves, the Egyptians they treated her like an Egyptian goddess. She also practiced the religious customs of Egypt. She was the last ruler from the Ptolemy dynasty she was the last of that royal line and ruled from 51 to 30 B.C.E the romans where gaining power and growing bigger and bigger. she was bossy, intelligent, and ruthless she dressed like a queen even though she was a pharaoh. Cleopatra was forced out of Egypt so she fled to Syria so she could be safer. When she was queen she spoke Egyptian and Greek. When Julius Caesar was staying in the palace in Alexandria he when receives the most famous gifts in history which was an oriental rug with a 22 year old Cleopatra wrapped in it she did this because she wanted more and more power and so she wanted a strong army to protect her and be on her side . Also Cleopatra and Julius Caesar fell in love and they had a son named Caesarion. After they fell in love but before they had a kid, Julius's army drowned Ptolemy XIII he removed Cleopatra from power. While they were in Rome Cleopatra was less popular with the romans than her son, she had called herself the "New Isis" . After Julius Caesar was killed Cleopatra and mark Antony fell in love and 3 children. But Mark Antony and Cleopatra made the Roman Empire very mad because they were giving away parts of their empire to their children. Then Cleopatra was in the war called Actium but sadly for Cleopatra was defeated and because of that Octavian who was part of the Roman Empire killed Mark Antony, Mark Antony was asked to be taken to Cleopatra and he died in her arms. L BTW I wrote this myself and didn't take this of some web site
