All I know is that Christopher Columbus claimed Cuba for Spain
no
In Spain, on 20th of may 1506, but how i don't know.
You are confusing with Christofor Columbus and the king and the Queen of Spain: Ferdinand and Isabel. And yes, Columbus knew the Queen.
Through Christopher Columbus' explorations. He let the King and Queen of Spain know about the resources in the Americas.
Christopher Columbus made four trips to the New World. Reportedly the Native Americans he took back with him to Spain volunteered for the trip. The purpose of bringing Native Americans back to Spain was to show the monarchy the type of peoples that inhabited this New World.
Christopher Columbus sailed under Ferdinand II also know as Ferdinand the Catholic and Isabella II also know as Isabella the Catholic, these were the king and queen of Aragon, Leon, and Castille in Spain.
De Leon and Columbus were NOT on the same voyage. They were both sent by Spain, but Columbus never reached the main land of the North America and De Leon did. Columbus sailed in 1492, but De Leon didn't leave Spain until 1510. The only connection they may have had is that De Leon was made governor of Hispaniola and then Porto Rico. I know Columbus thought that those should have been his jobs.
