If you are asking about her, she shunned conformity quite intensely. This was a theme in many, manyof her poems:

On the other hand, Emily was extremely reclusive. She never came out of her house, probably threatened intensely by the conventions of society. She was different somehow, and so much that made her uncomfortable with 'conformity' and social interaction. It's sad, because she was probably extremely lonely and seems to have been a wonderful person.
