What was Edgar Allan Poe seeking in life?

• to be accepted as a son by his foster father, John Allan
• to be loved, he was always searching for a mother figure
• to be praised, Poe loved getting acknowledgements and being famous

I think, that if tuberculosis didn't exsist, and that his foster father accepted/loved him that Poe would be dramatically a different man. A different writer.

Many people in his life either died or became his enemy. Tuberculosis was a killer.
