Yes and No Yes because the mystery behind the painting is that while Edvard Munch was walking with friends, he had to stop to take a break as his friends went ahead, he heard a ear percing scream. The reason the screams hands are over his ears is because the scream that comes from the most famos open mouth is so shrill, he must put his hands over his ears.
