There are many names for God used in both the Hebrew and Greek versions of The Bible beginning with 'Elohim' which some call a 'majestic plural' or more than one divine being. Many in Christendom have accepted the 'trinity' concept of the Godhead. This man-made vain attempt at describing the God 'Family' has caused much confusion for many people and is considered a 'mystery' or undefinable aspect of the Godhead to this very day.
On the other hand, allowing the Scripture to define itself, on may read in John 1:1-4, we discover that this 'Elohim' is composed of two divine beings - the Father and the Word or Logos who would eventually take on the role of Jesus as the 'Son of God'.

God is neither male nor female. God has no gender. Many times in the Bible God is refereed to as he, but sometimes God is also called she. mainly God is called he because when the Bible was written, men were the guardians, rulers and guides of a home, much like God was/is to the world. when God is described as a caretaker or motherly protector of the world or a piece of it, then God might be likened to a female entity. if you don't believe in the bible, then your god can have any gender you want.
