Why did Isaiah prophesy about Jesus being born?

Isaiah lived centuries before the time of Jesus and knew nothing of him, and therefore never mentioned Jesus in the Book of Isaiah. However, the Book of Isaiah seems to be an ideal source for quotes that Christians can use to link Jesus back into the Old Testament.

In my opinion a prophecy that is recorded in the Old Testament under the chapter of Isaiah must be attributed to that name. More so that adherents of Christianity always argue that every single prophecy in the Old Testament is about Jesus the following may be taken as referring to Jesus:

1. Isaiah 11:1-4
2. Isaiah (11:10) And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. (11:11) And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people...

Moses, the Psalms, and all of the prophets... including Isaiah... prophesied of some aspect or other regarding the Messiah's future fulfillment of all of the phases of God's plan for man's Salvation; whether it was His birth, death, resurrection, or His future thousand-year rule on the earth and beyond. The "inspiration" of the nature of Christ's miraculous birth was evidently given to Isaiah:

"...'This is what I told you while I was still with you - that everything must be fulfilled that is written in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and the Psalms CONCERNING ME.' Then He opened their minds to Understand the Scriptures." (Luke 24:44-45 WEY Weymouth's New Testament)

Isaiah knew nothing about Jesus Christ and never wrote a word about him. True, Matthew's Gospel attributes a prophecy of Jesus' virgin birth to Isaiah, but this is not really what Isaiah wrote. Matthew relies on the Septuagint, a flawed early Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures. Although not actually mentioning Jesus, the Septuagint does say: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virginshall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."

However, what the prophet Isaiah actually wrote in the original Hebrew was, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." The 'prophecy' was for a young woman about whom Isaiah was speaking and about a child to be called Immanuel. The young woman in question did have a child just a few verses later in Isaiah's book.

Isaiah did not write Septuagint account and died long before that translation existed. Whether or not we believe that the author of the Septuagint account was gifted to know about Jesus, Isaiah did not.
