Paleontologist James Kirkland was one of the first scientists to theorize that the dinosaurs became extinct because of an asteroid that slammed into the earth. It didn't take long for other scientists to come to the same conclusion and the theory is now widely accepted.

What are two pieces of evidence used two support the theory that dinosaurs became extinct as a result of volcanic eruptions about 65 million years ago?

Using fossils and geographical clues, paleontologists have determined with some certainty that a meteor, not a volcano killed the dinosaurs. Although dinosaurs died out, some birds survived and today's birds are the direct descendants of the dinosaurs.

Why is the theory about the mammals eating dinosaur eggs not as strong as the theory of the dinosaurs meteorite extinction theory?

The main reason is that many different organisms went extinct along with the dinosaurs, both on land and in the sea. In all, about 65% of all species on Earth went extinct. Furthermore, many groups of organism disappear from the fossil record very suddenly. This evidence suggests that a cataclysmic event devastated numerous ecosystems around the world.

Why did dinosaus became extinct?

Nobody really knows but there are many theories. There is the mammal theory (where mammals take over) and the new plant and vegetation theory. The most famous theory is probably the asteroid collision theory.

What evidence is there to prove that dinosaurs became extinct?

It is a popular BELIEF that a meteorite killed the dinosaurs. There is no hard evidence to support it, and as such, your guess is as good as anyone elses. There are several craters on the planet large enough to support the theory, but the evidence is considerably lacking past that. Another popular theory is that they simply died out through the process of self extinction. They consumed all available resources, died out slowly, and eventually went extinct.
