Jesus was swaddled according to the custom of the time. Babies were wrapped in a square of cloth which encased their body.

Some tradition says that the stable or barn was actually a cave that was used as a place to keep animals for a short period of time.

Luke 2:7 A manger is a trough where animals would eat out of. The manger was in a stable.

The main reason to have little babies are wrapped in clothes is toprevent them from the cold, and twoif they dirty themselvsit will be in the clothes.
