Julius Caesar was said to have had a congenial personality. The ancient writer Seutonius says that Caesar had a "charming" personality. Although he had a few enemies that got together and killed him, for the most part people liked him. Even Cicero, who was opposed to him politically, liked him personally.

Julius Caesar's strengths were his ability to lead and connect with his army and with most of the populace in Rome. Although having better than average abilities in strategies, public speaking, and literary matters, his main strength was his personality. It is said that his personality was magnetic and even that old stuffed toga Cicero liked him personally (although hating him politically). All of Caesar's achievements were possible through his various positions of authority and he attained those positions largely through his personality. To be more specific with regard to Julius Caesar's strength to lead & connect with his legions was the conquest of Gaul.
