August 29th, 1958: Michael Joeseph Jackson is born. 1964: At age 5, Michael performs "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" in front of his first audience at a talent show in Gary's Roosevelt High School. Shortly after, he officially becomes a member of what would now be called The Jackson 5. 1967: The J5 record their first song entitled "Big Boy" on Steeltown Records. 1969: After being signed the previous year by Motown Records, The J5 release their first album "Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5" and with it, their first single: "I Want You Back", which becomes a #1 hit. 1970: Their next album ("ABC") is released and spawns two #1 songs: "ABC" and "The Love You Save". Later that year, "I'll Be There" from the album "Third Album" is released and goes to #1. The J5 become the first band to release 4 #1 songs in a row. 1971: Michael's very first solo song, "Got To Be There", is recorded and the solo album of the same is released in January of next year. 1972: Michael's next solo album, "Ben", is released and the title track not only becomes his first solo #1 song, but also gets nominated for an Oscar and wins a Golden Globe. 1973: Michael's third solo album "Music and Me" is released. 1974: The J5 song Dancing Machine is released and peaks at #2. Michael performs this song on Soul Train and does the robot, which becomes a semi-dance craze. 1975: Michael's fourth album "Forever, Michael" is released. 1976: The J5 (minus Jermaine, replaced by Randy) switch labels from Motown to CBS and are renamed The Jacksons. They release their 1st album on the label, which include "Enjoy Yourself", "Show You The Way To Go", (which hit #1 in the UK) and "Blues Away", the earliest song written by Michael himself.
