Technically Mike's first "job" was a commission to carve three roughly two foot figures for the Altar of the Church of San Domenico in Bologna when he was 18 in 1492. Prior to that he bought an eight foot block of marble and carved a Hercules (now lost) which he eventually sold. (No artists had ever simply made a work of art on spec and found a buyer later.)
Prior to that he was a apprentice in the sculpture garden of Lorenzo de Medici but I don't know if that counts, and prior to that at age twelve he was supposedly a paid assistant/apprentice with the Ghirlandio brothers in their studio (but that story is fishy--not that he worked there, but whether and how he was paid.)
