In Exodus 6:20 it says that Amram was the father of Moses and Aaron.

Additionally

Exodus 2:1 only says a man of the house of Levi married a Levite woman who gave birth to Moses so it is just as likely that Amram was a grandfather or great-grandfather of Moses because the genealogy lists in the scripture sometimes skip generations including only the "great" ancestors and skip many of the "lesser" ancestors. Biblical scholars have argued back and forth on these issues but for sake of argument we can say the father of Moses was Amram.

A:

The story of Moses' father-in-law was written down by two different sources around 800-900 BCE, and they use different names for him.

The source known as the Yahwist calls Moses' father-in-law Reuel or Hobab, reflecting traditions in the early Kingdom of Judah. The Elohist uses the name Jethro for Moses' father-in-law, reflecting a tradition in the early Kingdom of Israel. The two accounts were merged after the fall of Israel in 722 BCE, resulting in these names occurring in the same book.

Answer

In Hebrew, his name was Yitro.

There are at least two distinct ancient traditions that give us three different names for Moses' father-in-law.

The northern tradition, as recorded in what became the Book of Exodus by an anonymous source now known as the Elohist, is that the father of Moses' wife was called Jethro (Exodus 3:1; 4:18; 18:1-12).

Southern traditions recorded by an anonymous source now known as the Yahwist, say that Moses' father-in-law was either Reuel (Exodus 2:18) or Hobab (Numbers 10:29; Judges 4:11).
