Jackson's views on Native Americans was one of transparent bigotry and prejudice. Often referring to the Cherokee people as "savages", and viewing their removal to be a great step in furthering American civilization, despite the Cherokee's rich cultural heritage.

When the Indian Removal Act was deemed "Unconstitutional", Jackson had this to say: "John Marshall has made his decision; let him enforce it now if he can", showing Jackson's determination to evict these people from their home.

What was president Andrew Jackson view of the Indian removal act?

Jackson was the first "frontier " president and very proud he was considered an "Indian killer". He pushed for the act and wanted to get Native Americans off lands onto reservations. He was more or less the final solution about Native Americans after 300 years of ( counting from 1492) invasion of Native American ancestral lands. This is a sad history, but one we need to know and understand.

How did the Cherokee's feel about the Indian Removal Act?

The Cherokee felt the Indian Removal Act did not apply to them since they were an organized nation and won that in the Supreme Court. Therefore the treaty of New Echota was passed by Congress to "officially" have the right to remove them.they were madThe viewed it and still view it as illegal and wrong. They viewed it as theft and attempted genocide. With Andrew Jackson ignoring the Supreme Court they had little recourse.

Describe Jackson's views on Native Americans. What happened as a result?

Jackson's views on Native Americans were discriminatory and resulted in the forced removal of Native tribes from their ancestral lands. Jackson believed in the policy of Indian removal and signed the Indian Removal Act of 1830, which led to the forced relocation of thousands of Native Americans, primarily from the southeastern United States to lands west of the Mississippi River. This policy resulted in the Trail of Tears, a tragic and deadly journey for many tribes, causing immense suffering and loss of life.
