The iambic--at least this was the meter he used the most, and he seemed to use it effortlessly. There is some trochaic meter used (think the witches' chant in Macbeth) but it is rare. However, he probably didn't use it because he liked it particularly; tradition and the very fine example of Christopher Marlowe made it the meter everyone wrote in all the time. Plus, it is the meter which most closely mimics the rhythms of English speech.
