When Voldemort was younger he grieved over the past that he didn't know about. He was put into an orphanage because his father, forced to love a woman he found ugly and not good enough for him, didn't want anything to do with his son; while Tom's mother died while giving birth to him.
While in the orphanage he didn't live a happy life, he would get in trouble for his 'anger management issues', because the other kids picked on him so much they would face the unwanted consequences, that Tom possessed, being an under age wizard.
Tom Marvolo Riddle (Lord Voldemort) was someone who kept to himself, but had a big amount of selfishness, and self consciousness; causing him to turn into a bad person.
Lord Voldemort himself is not in The Chamber of Secrets book. Instead, there is a past version of himself, kind of like a ghost of his past, which is hidden inside one of his horcruxes.
Lord Voldemort in the Philosopher's Stone was the real, current Voldemort/Riddle. In the Chamber of Secrets, the young Tom Riddle is actually an imprint of his soul in the diary, and not actually, physically him, but a past version of himself. Since the diary is a horcrux, the Riddle in the diary is PART of Voldemort, but not actually Voldemort.
Hopefully not.
Lord Voldemort. Because of the terror he spread in the past, most wizards and witches - with the notable exception of Albus Dumbledore, and Harry Potter - are afraid to pronounce his name.
