The Coram hospital was a hospital for unwanted children. The charity still exists today, but was began to be built in 1742 and was finished in 1745. It was basically an orphanage that looked after kids and when they were ready to leave at the age of 14 or 16, depending on gender, they would be put into an apprenticeship or sent to work at a big house or a benefactor's house.

Thomas Coram first founded it.
