By the use of the word 'illustrate' I can only assume the landing was hypothetical in nature, put forth by an unknown person(s) to elicit a reaction from the general populace. So unless the unknown person(s) are identified there is no way to tell what the point was.

I don't think so. In fact I have never heard of a UFO landing pad, anywhere, including St. Paul, MN. If there is any truth to the 'crash stories' the evidence is probably not in Minnesota. The state of Ohio, known as the birthplace of aviation, is where the government stashed UFO remains, or so the rumors implied.
