Who was Prime Minister in England in world war 2?

The British Prime Minister at the start of WWII was Neville Chamberlain. Along with the Prime Ministers of France and Italy, he attepted to appease Adolf Hitler at the Munich Conference in1938 by allowing the German Reich to annex parts of Czechoslovakia which were occupied by ethnic Germans (Sudetenland). Chamberlain's naivity became apparent when he returned from the conference and was filmed waving his copy of the agreement and pronouncing that the conference had secured peace in our timeThe Sudetenland was occupied by Germany between October 1 and October 10. Germany then broke the agreement by subsequently invading and annexing the whole of Czechoslovakia in March 1939.When Hitler continued his aggression, Britain declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939, and Chamberlain led Britain through the first eight months of WWII. Following the failed Allied invasion of Norway in 1940, Chamberlain resigned to make way for a Prime Minister who could be supported by all the political parties. He was succeeded by Sir Winston Churchill, who served as Prime Minister until the end of the war.

What country is Charlemagne from?

Charlemagne was born in the Kingdom of the Franks, which was mostly in what are now parts of France and Germany. He was crowned king, and extended his kingdom greatly, adding others to it, including Saxony, the Kingdom of Lombardy, and an area called the Spanish March, in northern Spain. In the end, he ruled nearly all of modern France, Germany, and Austria, all of Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, the northern half of Italy and parts of other countries. After he died, his empire was divided, and important parts became the Kingdom of France, and the Holy Roman Empire (Germany).

How do you think dividing Germany into four parts affected Germans and those countries occupying?

The post-World War II division of Germany into four occupation zones affected both the Germans and the occupation-countries in numerous ways. The countries involved (France, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States) experienced both negatives and positives; for instance, they suffered additional expenses and responsibilities and yet, positively, could demonstrate their superior strength and have a direct hand in rebuilding Germany. For Germans, the same mixed bag of effects was evident: occupation was a constant reminder of their defeat in the war, yet it also prevented the country from falling into anarchy in the immediate post-war period.
