Plessy vs Ferguson (Passed by the Democrats) said that every thing was still separate/segregated but yet equal. Thus there were black drinking fountains and white drinking fountains, schools and so on. Unfortunately the only part that actually worked was the part about being separate. Everything that was built by the government for the black people was either substandard, poorly maintained, in an inconvenient location ect. Eventually Brown vs. Board of Education (Under the Republicans) struck down.
