Kronos was the son of Gaea and Uranus. He was one of the twelve Titans. He killed his father, Uranus, and married Rhea. However, he was afraid that his children would kill him as he had his father, and swallowed the children that Rhea gave birth to. Eventually, Rhea tricked him by hiding the son (Zeus) in a faraway cave, and giving Kronos a rock to swallow instead. When Zeus grew up, he gave his father a drug that made him spit up Zeus' siblings. The children (the Gods of Mt. Olympus) fought with Kronos and eventually defeated him, banishing him to the depths of Tartarus.
