There were in fact 3 elements discovered in the busy Chemistry year of 1886. Dysprosium, a metal sometimes used in nuclear reactor rods was discovered by Paul-Émile Lecoq de Boisbaudran. Next up was Fluorine, one of the most reactive elements of all and widely used in water supplies around the world in small quantities to help reduce population tooth decay, this was discovered by Ferdinand Frederic Henri Moissan. And lastly we have Germanium, a semi-metal mostly used in the manufacture of transistors, this element was discovered by Clemens Winkler.
There were 3 elements discovered in 1940. They were Astatine, Neptunium, and Plutonium. Their atomic numbers are 85, 93, and 94.
In 1886 - nothing. In 1896 Henri Becquerel discovered that uranium influenced photographic plates.

Manganese.
The most metallic element on the planet is Francium. It is the last element to be discovered that was not made synthetically.
No one knows exactly when mercury was discovered, but many ancient civilizations were familiar with this element. It's ore is a dark red and known a cinnabar. When heated in a charcoal fire droplets of the metal appear on it's surface.
There isn't a reason for it...it just was!
Germanium was discovered in 1886 by Clemens A. Winkler.
Flourine.
Clemens Winkler discovered the element Germanium in 1886.
There is no element 'flourine' - it's 'fluorine'. Fluorine was discovered by Henri Moissan in 1886 who perfected a process using electrolysis to produce fluorine from fluorite, a mineral discovered in 1530. Fluorite and fluorine are not the same.
Fluorine was prepared as a pure element for the first time in France by Moissan in 1886.
Germanium was discovered in 1886 by Clemins Winker
Ekasilicon (Mendeleev's name for the element below Silicon, 1869) is named germanium since it was discovered (1886).Eka (from Sanskrit) means 'first' for first element downwards.

Discovered in 1886, but not isolated until the 1950's.
in 1886
In 1886 a German chemist named, Clemens A. Winkler discovered germanium. He discovered the first trace of germanium in the mineral argyrodite, while isolating it. (But germanium rarely makes distinct minerals.) He purified it to find the new element. Before this in 1871 a chemist named, Mendeleev predicted there would be a new element, that would have properties similar to the ones in silicon. His predictions were proved to be true.
