England, by a margin of many centuries. The totally sovereign Republic of Ireland was only established in 1949. Since around the 12th century AD it had for all practical purposes been a colony of England. England itself as a unified sovereign kingdom was established in the 11th century.
The Union Jack, the national flag of the United Kingdom, was formed in 1801 by combining the crosses of England, Scotland, and Ireland. The flag incorporates the red cross of St George for England, the white saltire of St Andrew for Scotland, and the red saltire of St Patrick for Ireland. The design represents the political union of these nations under one sovereign. However, the flag's origins date back to 1606 when the first version was created to represent the kingdoms of England and Scotland.
True Ireland was England first attempt at colonisation
Republic of Ireland
First year is a students first year in high school(secondary school) that is for Ireland anyway.
To first give a bit of background: In 1801 what was called the United Kingdom was formed. It consisted of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Ireland wanted independence and in 1921 a treaty was signed, where 26 of Ireland's 32 counties became independent and are now known as the Republic of Ireland. The other 6 counties formed Northern Ireland, which is still part of the United Kingdom. So some would say not all of Ireland is free. It is also true to say that as England is only one part of the United Kingdom, so it doesn't own the other 3 parts.
Great Britain wasn't always just England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Scotland never wanted to become Great Britain. Scotland had war with England and Wales. England won, so Scotland would have to stay Great Britain.
The people on the First Fleet were from England and Ireland.
Yes Elizabeth the First of England was also Queen of Ireland.
I believe the presbyterian church was first formed shortly after the first Huguenots(french Calvinists)refugees at that arrived in Ireland, the church was possibly first formed in Dublin.
The "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland" was the full title from 1801 until 1922 when it became the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" when the Irish Free State was formed (now Eire or Ireland). The UK refers to all four countries (England Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland). The term was derived from the merging of the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland in 1801. It is sometimes thought that Kingdom of Great Britain formed from the Kingdoms of England and Scotland (in 1707 politically and 1603 under the Crowns) was called the United Kingdom but this is not the case.
Elizabeth the first of England was crowned "Queen of England, Ireland and France".The Archbishop of Canterbury.
