The colonists who supported the war for independence against Great Britain were called Patriots. Those who didn't support the war were called Tories or Loyalists.
Loyalists. At the end of the war they had to leave for Canada.
The colonist from the 13 original colonies declared their independence from England, fought a war, then received their independence from Britain. A new nation was founded called the United States.
The Colonist called themselfs Americans because they were independent from Britain when they signed The Declaration of Independence. Actually they were called americans because they were colonized in the Americas
The last part of the Declaration of Independence is called the conclusion or the denunciation. It is where the representatives of the thirteen colonies formally announce their separation from Britain and declare themselves to be free and independent states.
