For many they were very proud to serve the King George and Churchill to get back at the Nazis. They trained hard for the Normandy invasion. They did not welcome the "Yanks" because they said they were "overpaid, oversexed and over here." They were paid very poorly, (unfair that they had to lose their life for a pittance when the Yanks were paid better to die) and they resented the Yanks abilities to buy a lot of stuff even when they had a family back home. Once the Britons and Americans reached Normandy they began to work together better because all of a sudden the other stuff was petty whey they had to survive and try to carry out their missions in the midst of chaos. The Britons were good warriors and went through extremely difficult ordeals. They wanted to defeat the Nazis but many just wanted to go back home. When they saw the concentration camps, dead bodies in Germany and Berlin they quit cranking about why they had to fight this difficult war. Knowing they stopped the Nazis and possibly save some Jewish lives made them realize they were needed. Both the Britons and the Americans made life long friendships.
