In 1066 life was hard and somewhat cruel. Firstly, England's beloved king Edward the Confessor died with no children and 3 very different men wanting the throne. However, only one lived in England so he got there first. This caused an outrage between the 3 warriors which ended up with 2 battles; The Battle of Stamford Bridge and The Battle of Hastings. Both of these battles tore England apart and the last battle made the country a very different place...
In 1066, the whole country of Britain was under hardships. Many factions of the population were poor farmers who depended on their physical strength to eat.
It was hard for them but they promised William the conqueror to follow his orders. also they are at the bottom of his fuedal system.
