In Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, Jacob Marley says that his chains are "forged out of life," meaning that all of the bad things that he did in his life came back to haunt him and are symbolized in the form of the chains.
Marley's chain was made out of heavy cash-boxes, keys, padlocks, ledgers, deeds, and heavy purses wrought in steel. These items symbolized the burdens and sins that Marley carried in life, weighing him down in death.
Marleys chain is made from steel purses, ledgers, cashboxes, keys, and his office materials.
These symbolised what was important to Marleys' in life. In his interaction with Scrooge he states that his business should have been "people".

The ledges are Marleys bank receipts for sales he'd made and therefore money was owed to Marley in these by people and deeds were the documents that proved ownership of properties that he had and therefore income coming from rentals etc
Marley explains "I wear the chain I forged in life,'' replied the Ghost. I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it. Is its pattern strange to you?" Marleys chain contains the things thatwere to him important in life these included iron ketys iron clad ledgers, iron clad purses and of course the links themselves. The chain there represents when he classed as importatnt in life and s it was all based around money and none of it about helping others the chain was a burden of punsihment to worn for eternity
he would suffer the same fate as himself which was to wear a ponderous chain seven time longer than his own and suffer eternal torment
what invention is that? you're not suggesting reggae are you? he didn't invent it just made it mainstream.
marleys mission was to lead the world out of confusion and to touch the hearts of people all over the world
Marley warns Scrooge thatt he(Scrooge ) is following the same downward path as he had and in doing so was making a chain of punishement for himself that was to be 7 times larger than Marleys
