mercantilism introduced to Elizabeth 1 by hakluyt . Mercantilism is the belief that a nation should export more than the import. The Act of exporting is an economic gain for a nation vs. economic lost with importing. In the 1600's and 1700's the countries were focused on exporting the new world and also surrounding countries. They created commerce laws with any trading would be under English rule and would be on english ships which mean that english was making a profit off of all trading.
