In the medieval times, there was no luxury of the cotton or silk underwear that society has today. Back then, only the nobles could afford under armour. It was usually made of linen. Linen is similar to a table cloth. Though extremely uncomfortable, it was only available to the rich.

Thought with all these men in the same looking armour it was hard to tell friend from foe so the began to engrave the armour with the knights specific heraldry shield so it was easier in battle to tell who to save and who to kill.

I believe only the members got it on that Medieval party quest last year. Only members have it. Each year there is a medieval party, and there is a quest, and at the end of the quest (when you finish all the games in the quest successfully) there is a prize-and the prize was the golden armour. So currently you cannot get the golden armour on club penguin, and besides, even if it IS the medieval party right now, unless you are a member you cannot get it. And if you are even a member, you need to finish the quest in order to get the golden armour. I hope I have been some help. =)
