It was not considered a peaceful protest because tea was taxed and it made the king rich, but when we threw the tea, the king didn't make any money off of it, and so his pockets weren't completely full of gold, which was a sign of rebellion.

Because of this the symbol for the Democratic Party became the donkey. Another of his nicknames was King Andrew. Andrew Jackson was a strong president who used the office to forcefully pursue his agenda. Many political opponents, fearing Jackson's use of power, called him "King Andrew." Out of this nickname sprung an opposing party, the Whig Party. The term Whig originated in Britain during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms when it was used to refer derisively to a radical faction of the Scottish Covenanters who called themselves the "Kirk Party."
