Posiedon was god of the sea and land i believe. he isn't well known for being god of land but, when Zues divided the duties of the word he put Posiedon as god of land and sea. then he put Hades as god of the underworld (not really hell all the dead went there). then he put himself in charge of everyone and the sky (lightning).
posiedon lived in the sea most of the time because Man lived on the surface. fun fact about posiedon; he created horses and all cyclops are his children. i think nymph's are also his children to but im not sure
