Out of the eater came something to eat. Out of the strong came something sweet.
Samson's riddle is found in the biblical story of Judges 14. During his wedding feast, he challenges his Philistine guests with the riddle: "Out of the eater, something to eat; out of the strong, something sweet." The answer refers to a lion he had killed that later contained a swarm of bees and honey. The riddle ultimately leads to conflict as the guests pressure Samson's wife for the answer, showcasing themes of strength, wit, and betrayal.
Samson's riddle, found in the Book of Judges (Judges 14:14), states, "Out of the eater, something to eat; out of the strong, something sweet." The answer to the riddle is honey, which Samson found in the carcass of a lion he had killed. The lion represents strength, and the honey symbolizes the sweetness that came from it, highlighting the contrast between the two elements.
Out of the eater came something to eat, and out of the strong came something sweet
This riddle is from the biblical story of Samson. Samson had killed a young lion and left it where he killed it. Later that day he returned and found a swarm of bees and honey inside the lion's carcass. He ate some and later gave some to his parents though he did not tell them where he got it. Samson was about to be married and gave a feast with about thirty other men in attendance. He told them if they could answer a riddle he would give them thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothes. This is when he posed the riddle "Out of the eater came something to eat. Out of the strong came something sweet." For three days they had no clue as to what the answer was. Finally after a week they threatened Samson's wife with death by fire and would burn her father's house down if she didn't get the answer from him. After crying and wailing for seven days Samson just couldn't take it any longer and finally told her the answer which was: "What is sweeter than honey and what is stronger than a lion." They told Samson the riddle to which he responded by saying "if you had not plowed with my heifer you would not have solved the riddle." The mighty man was so ticked that he went into the town of Ashkelon and knocked off thirty of their men, took their clothes and gave them to the men at the feast. Samson's wife was then given to his best man.
Samson killed a lion. A short time later, he found a bee's nest with honey inside the dead lion's body. Of course, bees or wasps rarely makes their nests inside a dead lions body, and Samson was able to confound a lot of people by making a riddle out it. Samson was later fooled by Delilah.

In the Old Testament (Judges 14) we are told that Samson killed a lion. Then later he went to the house of a woman he was going to marry and turned aside to look at the carcass of the lion he had killed and saw that a swarm of bees had made it their home and was producing honey. When Samson and the woman were to marry there was a seven day feast and Samson proposed a riddle, which pertained to the honey.
