In the original arcade version of Ikari Warriors, the level containing that... thing... was supposed to be a secret Nazi base hidden in the jungle. It was altered in certain versions of the game, especially for the NES, to remove the Swastikas and other Nazi references from the game. Similar to what they did with Bionic Commando. Now as to what that thing was... I like to imagine it was Hitler's corpse or something just as conspiracy-minded. That would make Ikari Warriors much like Bionic Commando plot-wise, except that the corpse doesn't come back to life. Seriously though... in the NES version they made that thing way too hard to destroy. I wasted so many grenades on it back in the day! Good question though. I'll bet even the designers of the game did not know what that... corpse... was doing there.

Yes, on the coach from Xian to the warriors you pass lots of buildings filled with lifesize warriors which look exactly the same as the real thing. Upon arriving at the actual warriors I was doubtful if even these were real.
Uh... no. What makes you think that?
There is no such thing as a "warriors prophecy"; that is only the title of the books.
They were renowned, feared, and hated for their skills and tenacity as warriors.
