The Massachusetts Charter was a document that granted rights to the people of Massachusetts Bay Colony from the English government. A sort of colonial constitution. All the 13 colonies has one.

The charter received from the British Crown was not for a settlement in what is now the coast of Massachusetts. The charter was for somewhere near Virginia, however, the course set by their ship, the Mayflower sent them to the coast of what is now the US State of Massachusetts.
