In 1970, the US national average for a gallon of regular gasoline was 36 cents - the equivalent of about $2.02 per gallon in 2010.
40 years ago, it was 1974. All you have to do is subtract 2014 and 40 to get the answer.
It all depends on the month, January 34.94, in July 35.32 and in December 37.44

1974 years ago.
It means you were born 40 years ago.It means you were born 40 years ago.It means you were born 40 years ago.It means you were born 40 years ago.
because you were born 40 years ago
No. The gasoline we have today is far better than we had 40 years ago. The only real difference is that 40 years ago all gasoline contained a lead additive. This lead additive did nothing but retard pre-detonation, protect valve seats, pollute the environment, ruin spark plugs, and eventually the engines. The gasoline 40 years ago may have had more octane but octane does nothing to increase power or mileage. That is nothing but a myth that will not die. Be thankful that our gasoline no longer is what is was 40 years ago.
Well, it depends on what year you are looking for, but 40 years ago from 2010 was the year 1970
40 years before 2014 was 1974.
