Alessandro Volta died on March 5th, 1827. The first Nobel Prizes were awarded on December 10th 1901. Although he did not receive a Nobel Prize, he was awarded the Copley Medal from The Royal Society. The Copley Medal, which is awarded for outstanding achievements in either the physical or biological sciences, is known as the oldest and most prestigious award that The Royal Society can bestow.
