the answer is a matter of opinion really. it depends on who you are and what sort of responsibility you are able to take. The best job to have would be a pharaoh because everyone would do what you say.
Assuming that "popular" means that the most people performed that task, laborer would be the most "popular" job. If "popular" means "most desirable job", then this would be being a courtier to Pharaoh (if not a member of the royal household) since the people who held such positions were well-paid and were cared for by throngs of servants.
