Matthias, also known as Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, did not have a legitimate heir. He was married to Catherine of the Neapolitan house, but they had no surviving children. After his death in 1490, the lack of an heir led to a power struggle and the eventual rise of other claimants to the throne.
