The 1556 Shaanxi earthquake The 1887 Yellow River flood The 1931 China floods
The Yellow River Flood happened in China and the reasoned why it happened was because it was raining too much and there is flat land so it made it easy for it to flood everywhere in that area.
The Huang He River is regerred as the River of Sorrows because of three floods in 1887, 1931, and 1938, the floods killed over a million total and leaving more homeless. The worst in 1931 that left more than 80 milliion homeless.
After the flood, two million were left homeless. The resulting pandemic and lack of basic essentials claimed as many lives as those lost directly by the flood itself. It was one of the worst floods in history, though the later 1931 Yellow River flood may have killed as many as two million.
It is named "China's Sorrow" because of its high tendency to flood, often killing many thousands of people. Many people live along the banks of this river because it provides rich soils for farmlands and crops which support much of China. When the river floods, not only does it kill people living nearby, but destroys all the crops. With no food, people across China suffer as well. Just between 1887 and 1943, a 50 year period, the Yellow River killed about 10 million people from catastrophic floods and famine.
Maurice River Railroad was created in 1887.
Maurice River Railroad ended in 1887.
Not sure but this sounds like a Yangtze River flood in northern China. The Yangtze or "Yellow" River has typically flooded at least once a decade for as long as people can remember, killing millions of people. Maybe the new Three Gorges Dam will bring the river under control
River Road Stone Arch Railroad Bridge was created in 1887.
Probably the floods of the Yellow River in China are among the largest in the world, as measured by loss of life. In 1931, the floods killed between 1 and 4 million. In 1887, it killed between 1 and 2 million. It has a plainland upriver catchment, which stores rainfall, and also supplies huge amounts of yellow silt derived from loess. This load causes the river to be a depositional river, gradually building up the bed of the river, necessitating levees, but which are eventually under attack as the river bed rises..The Black Sea may have once been isolated from the Mediterranean during the ice ages when sea levels were low. It is suggested that about 5600BC, the sea levels rose sufficiently to allow the Mediterranean to flood into the black Sea. The flows may have been as much as 10 cubic miles per day for 300 days, but depending very much on the starting level assumptions. There certainly are relict shorelines about 100m below the present sea level.Possibly ancestral memories of this account for the Noah stories.cameron read it
