The single wire telegraph system was demonstrated in 1837.
the telegraph was invented in pennsylvania in 1836 but it wasnt succesful till 1837.
The telegraph was invented in Boston, Massachusetts.
New York City, at the New York University, by Samuel Morse, in 1837.
The (electric) telegraph was more or less invented in 1837 by Cooke and Wheatstone in England. It was 1838 that Samuel Morse first demonstrated his telegraph.
Samuel Morse was known as an inventor, and for creating Morse Code. It is a system of dots and dashes that stand for letters. In 1837, Morse invented the electric telegraph.
The electrical telegraph system was not created until the 1800s. The closest thing to the telegraph in the 1700s was a visual semaphore system. The Morse system, using a telegraph key to send a system of dots and dashes (Morse Code) was patented in 1837.

Bell invented the Telephone, not the telegraph. The first practical telegraph systems could send coded message, not speech. They were invented in Europe in the 1830s. Samuel Finley Breese Morse and Alfred Vail (famous for Morse Code) helped perfect and commercialize the telegraph in the US, around 1837.
