Henry Ford popularized the assembly line in the automotive business, which made cars accesible to the general public at a lower cost. It cost less to use the assembly line than to pay for one person to put the whole car together. It took much less time to train employees to just learn one part of the assembly. Cars were made much faster, and the less skilled empoyees were paid less than an expert all-around professional car builder. So the cars cost less to make and were sold for less making it possible for the average person to afford to get a car. It expanded the automotive business to the non-rich. It also gave a lot more people employment even though they weren't all-around expert builders.
