The standard rifle for American troops was the M1 Garand. paratroopers carried the Thompson submachine gun.sometimes, infantry troops carried Thompson guns as well. all infantry had the option of carrying a pistol, but they had to be purchased seperatly from the standard issue of equipment. Some infantry troops were issued BAR rifles, which were like heavier versions of the Thompson. Aircraft pilots carried a pistol, in case they got shot down, generally the .45 version. the German standard issue rifle was Karbiner 98k, and the submachine gun was the mp40. the Germans also sometimes carried mp44's, which was like the German version of the BAR. the Walther p38 was the pistol of choice for the Germans, as well as the well-known Luger pistol.
