Salyut - I is the world's first space station developed by Soviet engineers. It was launched on April 19, 1971. I came to know about many more interesting facts like this at the Space Camp. Last year my parents had enrolled me at http://spacecampindia.com/index.htm as a result of which i could explore the US Space and Rocket Centre at Huntsville, Alabama. Apart from that we also got a chance to perform hands-on astronaut training programs as well as interact with various veteran astronauts and experts from NASA. It was an amazing experience. In fact I would suggest every kid interested in space should once register for the Space Camp in their teens!
