While tornadoes have most likely been happening for thousands if not millions of years, the first tornado that we are aware of happened in 1054. On April 30, 1054, the tornado struck Rosdalla, near Kilbeggan, Ireland.

It is impossible to know when or where the first actual tornado in U.S. history occurred as there would have been nobody around to record it.

The first recorded U.S. tornado occurred before the U.S. was even founded as a nation. That tornado occurred in Rehoboth, Massachusetts in August of 1671.

Tornadoes do not have names, and have been ocurring since before there were people around to record them, so it is impossible to say when the first tornado was. The first tornado on record ocurred near Kilbeggan, Ireland on April 30, 1054. So, as of the year 2013, this tornado ocurred 959 years ago.
